A host of City kids have been catching the eye this season with impressive performances in the reserves, pushing for first-team recognition.
The likes of Stephen Jordan, Willo Flood and Nedum Onuoha have already performed well when given a chance this season, but further injuries and suspensions mean Keegan will have to call on some more of his youngsters.
Lee Croft is in line to get a chance while Jonathan D'Laryea could also be handed some first-team action in the season run-in.
"Unfortunately, we had Joey Barton and Stephen Jordan pick up their fifth yellow cards which means they will be suspended," he says in tonight's programme notes.
"We still have Ben Thatcher, Nedum Onuoha and probably Jon Macken also out injured, so the supporters who want to see us blood some more of our younger players are likely to get their wish.
"Over the next few weeks, we have to prove that we have something to play for and also see how good some of our young players are," the City boss added.
"I know a lot of City fans believe we have a great crop of youngsters and constantly write to me to ask for them to be given a chance.
"It is a big step up from reserve football to the Premiership and I am not sure whether some of them are ready or not. But the other argument is that you can't find out unless you give them the opportunity."
