The Brazilian ace limped out of last Saturday's 0-0 draw against Wigan after being injured in a foul by ex-Blue Michael Brown.
Elano has recovered in time to face the struggling Royals but Sven has warned his key playmaker to prepare for some similar treatment at the Madejski Stadium.
"Elano will be fit for the weekend," Sven confirmed. "He did everything today (Friday) and trained yesterday as well so he is OK.
"We'll be glad to have him available because he's one of our most important players.
"Of course, everyone now knows how good he is and they don't allow him space. He's maybe not the strongest player, opponents have discovered that, and that's making life more difficult.
"It's something he will have to learn from and cope with, because that's what life is like in the Premier League. His honeymoon is over in this country."
Nedum Onuoha has been ruled out with a slight hamstring injury while Martin Petrov is still suspended.
With Micah Richards recovering from knee surgery, Sven is set for a defensive reshuffle and Jihai Sun could be handed a rare start.
"He (Onuoha) has a hamstring problem but he will be available for Tottenham," said Sven. "Hopefully he is back in training again on Monday."
