History against City at Everton

History will be very much against Manchester City as they face Everton at Goodison Park. The blues last took three points from the Toffee's back in 1992, when Mike Sheron scored two and David White the other in a 3-1 away win but have failed to win any of the subsequent fixtures.

City's away record has been far from exemplary this season with the blues only recording one win on their travels. That was back in August with a
3-0 victory at Sunderland and the blues will be hoping for Everton to be a little jaded after a trip to Chelsea in midweek followed their FA Cup exploits at Wembley.

The home side however, will be looking to leap frog Aston Villa into fifth place and are seeking to complete the double over City for a second successive season and the reverse fixture saw Tim Cahill steal a last minute winner at Eastlands. City will be out to stop the rot of four straight defeats to the Merseysiders but must do it without Shaun Wright-Philips, Pablo Zabaleta and Craig Bellamy.

In 1906, Everton beat the blues 9-1 at Goodison Park, a result that is still City's record defeat. Although a repeat of that scoreline is not likely to happen this weekend, City will need to be on top form if they are to get anything from the game. The blues have already recorded a draw on Merseyside this season after taking a point from Liverpool at Anfield; a Craig Bellamy goal being cancelled out by Dirk Kuyt. A good result at Goodison will put City back in the hunt for the last European qualifying place.
