The Norwegian and former Leeds defender was a first team ever-present last season, but this year he has managed just four substitute appearances, the last coming in the FA Cup 3rd round win over Swindon in early January.
He has been plagued by a knee injury this season and recently went out to the United States for an operation.
However, he seems resigned to a further lengthy lay-off, telling Norwegian newspaper Aftenbladet: “I will be out for eight weeks.”
An eight week lay-off would mean Haaland would be unavailable for a return before late March and so it seems highly unlikely that he will play a first team fixture before the season ends on April 21.
