The diminutive winger made his league debut on Monday against Norwich, scoring City's only goal after 11 minutes, and impressed in the 1-1.
Flood linked well with the England international, who was used up-front and laid on the opener before setting up Flood for another chance in the second half, when the Irishman hit the post.
"I am loving every minute of it and it is a dream come true to play in City's first team," the Dublin-born midfielder told the City website.
"When you are small like I am you have to learn to look after yourself against these bigger players.
"I find that I am building a good relationship with Shaun - we do a lot of training together and we know what each other's game is about."
The pair were two of six Academy players in Monday's squad, which could see City reap the benefits.
Flood added: "With all these youngsters coming through it is going to save the club a lot of money and we want to push on now and help the club do well."
