Michael Tarnat is suspended so Sylvain Distin should cover at left-back again. Dunne and Sommeil will be in the centre but if Jihai Sun fails to regain match fitness then Gerard Wiekens is most likely to step in, pushing Dunne or Sommeil to right-back.

Keegan has a myriad of options in midfield while Anelka is likely to start but Keegan has to decide between Wanchope and Fowler to partner the Frenchman.

"You have to roll up your sleeves and battle like we did in the second half against Spurs," Keegan said. "That is the minimum requirement in this league and if some of my players didn't know it then they know it now.

"We'll have to battle for the right to play football against Everton - something we didn't do against Spurs until the game was almost beyond us.

City have only won once at Goodison in the Premiership, a 3-1 win back in 1992, but were minutes from victory last year when Everton cancelled out Marc-Vivien Foe's strike which put City ahead.
