The Belgian international signed from Al-Rayyan of Qatar in February and has quickly established himself with the Blues, scoring in the away wins at Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
The 28-year-old forward signed until the end of the season but has already signalled his desire to sign a long-term deal with the Blues.
"I'm happy to be at Manchester City," he told the City website. "They gave me an opportunity to play in England and I won't forget that. I'd stay here for 5 or 6 years because I like the city, the team and the manager here.
"In my mind I'm with City and I'm not thinking about anything else. We are working on the contract at the moment, but I'm very happy here and I want to play here - that's a fact.
"I have to thank the supporters," he added. "When I came here the situation for the team was not so good but they helped me because they accepted me so quickly. It's made me stronger and do a better job, and I'm happy that the fans like me.
"The manager believed in me after only seeing me play a couple of times."
