Roma star Daniele de Rossi is now reportedly on Roberto Mancini's wanted list following Samir Nasri's arrival at Manchester City.
The City boss appears to have finally clinched the signature of France international, Nasri, from Arsenal following a long, drawn out transfer saga, while Atletico Madrid's Argentinian hitman Sergio Aguero has also arrived in a ?38million swoop.
However, Mancini is still thought to be looking to bolster his midfield options following Patrick Vieira's decision to retire from playing at the end of last season. And, he has admitted that Roma's Italy international, De Rossi would be the ideal man to step into his squad before the transfer window closes in a week's time.
"I need something else in midfield because we have limited options," he said. "I have Barry, De Jong, Milner and Toure - but if you consider the number of games in the league, the Champions League and the FA Cup that is not enough.
"Daniele de Rossi would be absolutely perfect for this team and I rate him as one of the best midfielders in the world.
"But I also have the suspicion that he will stay in Rome his entire career, just like Francesco Totti has done."
