David Raum: Manchester City make enquiry for Hoffenheim defender

Manchester City have enquired about the availability of Hoffenheim's Germany international defender David Raum, 90min understands.

The left full-back is currently on Nations League duty with Die Mannschaft, where he recently impressed in the 1-1 draw with England in Munich.

Raum's current employers Hoffenheim are among those keeping tabs on Man City's Japan international defender Ko Itakura, who has never actually made an appearance for the club in his three-and-a-half seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

Itakura spent the past campaign on loan in Germany with Schalke and played a big part in their promotion back to the Bundesliga - but they could not afford to take up their option to buy him outright.

Now a host of clubs are chasing the centre-back's signature and Hoffenheim are among them, with City prepared to let the 25-year-old move on.

During talks over Itakura, 90min understands City asked about the availability of left-back Raum - who looks set to leave the club this summer.

City are looking to bolster their left-sided defensive options, and while Brighton's Marc Cucurella is their first choice, they are still assessing other options and Raum is another player they have scouted.
