The statement taken from the club's official website reads "Following the game against Crewe we were informed of an incident involving one of our players, Eyal Berkovic and a supporter."
"After a thorough investigation involving all parties it is clear that there has been a genuine mis-understanding of the actual situation.
Having now spoken to the supporter involved they are satisfied with our actions and do not wish to take the matter further."
The gesture, which came after Berkovic was denied a penalty and reportedly received abuse from the crowd, was said in the media to have reduced the supporter to tears.
