Premier league champions Manchester City have made initial enquiries about the signing of Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani according to reports.
Both sides would require at least ?40million each for their star assets, Man City plan to free up the wage bill by offloading out of favour strikers. Edin Dzeko, Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz could all be transfer-listed in order to fund moves for the pair.
Napoli were disappointing this season and will face a battle to keep Edinson Cavani at the club after failing to secure Champions league football next year. Ezequiel Lavezzi is expected to join PSG this summer so holding onto Cavani is vitally important for the Naples based side.
Falcao has netted 108 goals in three seasons since he left River Plate in 2009, however, he only singed for Atheltico Madrid last season for ?35m and has been a fan favourite leading the club to the Europa league title. Falcao is set to agree with his manager that he will remain in La Liga for at least one more season.
City have history with Athletico, however, after paying ?38m up front for Sergio Aguero last summer. As City are chasing these two strikers it suggests that boss Mancini has given up on signing Arsenal's Robin van Persie.
