Pellegrini is desperate to have his first-choice strike partnership fit and firing for his side’s Champions League date with destiny in the Nou Camp next Wednesday.
Injuries have meant that the prolific strike pairing of Aguero and Negredo, who have plundered 49 goals between them this season, have not started together since January 21.
Aguero made his comeback from a month out with a hamstring injury in Sunday’s Capital One Cup final win over Sunderland, while Negredo, who has been troubled by a shoulder problem, made a late appearance from the bench.
Pellegrini is ready to take a risk and start with both forwards in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final tie at home to Wigan on Sunday, to try to get them as sharp as possible ahead of the trip to Barcelona.
Although their Champions League hopes look to be over, City are still on course to become the first side in English football history to do the domestic treble of the League, FA Cup and League Cup in the same season.
