City apply to host UEFA cup final

City, along with Southampton, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Leeds, Liverpool and Newcastle have all put themselves forward to stage a UEFA Cup final.

UEFA will choose the venues for the next two years later this month along with the hosts for the Champions League.

However, with Old Trafford hosting the Champions League final in May this year, the chances of an England stadium hosting two successive European finals are slim.
