Carlos Tevez has revealed the reason for his subdued goal celebrations following his double strike against West Ham and what he will do if he scores in the next derby.
“I decided not to celebrate my goals out of respect for West Ham,” explains the Argentine. “They were my first club in England. Part of me will always be a Hammer.” Tevez received a warm welcome form the visiting West Ham fans and it is doubtful his two goals against his former club will change Hammer’s fan’s opinions of him.
However, Tevez isn’t quite so accommodating when it comes down to Manchester United. “I had decided not to celebrate if I scored against United but after the bad treatment I received, I have changed my stance. If I score in the next derby, I am sure I will celebrate.”
It remains to be seen if Tevez ‘does an Ade’ and runs the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the United fans and it is likely he will give Sir Alex Ferguson a gesture or two. Cue the FA hierarchy lining up to be the first to charge him with some stupid charge like aggravating an already aggravated manager or something.
Meanwhile, Roque Santa Cruz seems to have let his City debut go to his head a little. Although the blues are widely tipped to break into the top four this season and become serious challengers for the title next year, the Paraguay striker believes it can happen this year.
“We're not only looking for that to happen in the future. We're looking to do it now. It's happening already.” Calm down Roque. You’ve only played half a game and you’re talking championships.
