City's first big test of the season will be to tackle a tricky Carling Cup tie at Crystal Palace.
The blues, who were knocled out of the competition by Brighton last year, were also sent packing at the same stage by Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield in recent years.
The competition has to be high on Mark Hughes' list of targets for this season and Sparky will be looking for a good performance from his superstars at Selhurst Park.
Locally, Bolton face a tricky tie at John Barnes' Tranmere Rovers, who will have City's Shaleum Logan in defence, while Wigan have a trip to the seaside to look forward to as they visit Blackpool.
The tie will take place in the week commencing August 24th.
