Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been charged with an additional count of rape.
Mendy had previously been charged with seven rapes, one count of sexual assault and one count of attempted rape, but a new complainant has since come forward - with the details allowed to be published after a reporting restriction was lifted at Chester Crown Court.
The Frenchman pled not guilty to the charges levelled against him in May, which did not include this latest charge. All of the alleged offences are said to have occurred between July 2012 and August 2021.
He is due to stand trial with co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie on July 25, who is accused of 10 offences which include seven rapes against five women.
The 27-year-old was suspended by City, recently crowned Premier League champions for a fourth time in five seasons, in August last year following his initial arrest and was released on bail in January 2022.
