Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday facing a new charge of attempted rape.
The former France international is now facing nine charges relating to six women and will go on trial from July 25.
He had previously been charged for seven counts of rape and one sexual assault.
Mendy was suspended by Man City in August 2021 'pending an investigation' after first being taken into police custody, and was released on bail in January 2022.
He joined City for around £50m in 2017 from Monaco, winning three Premier League titles in Manchester. Injuries limited him to just 75 appearances for City, though he was notably a member of France's World Cup winning squad in 2018.
