Benitez becomes a blue

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will be changing his colours from red to blue for a day as City take on United.

Speaking after Liverpool's 3-0 victory at West Ham, Benitez said "we needed to get three points and put them under pressure and now we will be cheering and supporting Manchester City."

United will already be under pressure to win a fixture they are expected to win every season by the pundits and a defeat for them will be scrutinized more than a defeat for City. Of course, if United win the derby, the final whistle will be greeted with relief rather than the satisfaction of a derby win.  Sky Sports have the blues ready for a 3-0 defeat while Mark Lawrenson says it will only be 2-0.

City will be hoping to emulate their success last season and will also try to follow Liverpool's example when the Mersey giants hammered United 4-1 at Old Trafford, which well and truly silenced the hordes of United fans who had underestimated the strength in the Liverpool side and made a mockery of their top of the league status.

United 'star' Cristiano Ronaldo is also on a hat-trick as he attempts to be sent off in a derby for the third time. He was sent off in the Eastlands clash in 3-1 defeat in 2006 and again at Eastlands earlier this season when he played goalkeeper and deliberately handled the ball to 'protect his face' instead of just heading it.

If City do win the derby then a lot of blues fans will be very happy going into work on Monday morning. It will also be very, vey quiet.
