’d struggle to find a better creative midfielder in world football than David Silva
In July 2010 Silva was signed for a fee of £24 million from Valencia and not many predicted the impact the 29 year old would have at the Etihad
Since then the Spanish midfielder has won all there is to win in England, not to mention the World cup and European championship with Spain
Alongside his rather large trophy cabinet Silva has also racked up an impressive 50 assists and 34 goals in 166 appearances for the blues.
Forget the stats, the influence David Silva has for City can only be highlighted by watching him play
Some Manchester City fans will argue that David Silva may be their greatest ever player, simply because of how much a delight he is to watch
Though he may not have the goal scoring record of Sergio Aguero or the lung busting drives forward of Yaya Toure everything that City do goes through the little magician
WhatÂ’s most impressive is his desire for the ball whenever the blues are going forward, he can turn on a sixpence, leave defenders stumbling and create a chance from nothing, something that will only please his teammates
Fellow Spaniard Jesus Navas has been quick to praise his team mate ‘I just love David Silva! The quality he has, the way he reads the game
For us it is a pleasure to have him in our teamÂ’
The signings of Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne should only enhance the impact Silva has, in the opening games that has been illustrated immediately and the chemistry between Sterling Silva and Aguero has meant City have started the season with four wins out of four
At times last season when city came forward it appeared a bit repetitive and lackluster, there was a lack of penetration and the method for opposing managers appeared to be ‘stop Silva stop City’ This season however City have spent big to counteract the problem, with the pace of Sterling and De Bruyne/Navas not to mention the incredible ability of Sergio Aguero it may allow Silva to roam and be at his most dangerous
Fans who are waiting with Anticipation to see how Sterling Silva and De Bruyne link up will have to wait at least until Tuesday when they host Juventus, with Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini noting that David Silva will not be risked as he takes his side to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
With the attacking prowess that Man City now hold its hard to see anyone else lifting the Premier league title this season (of course it is only early days) the big question mark will be over how successful they are in the champions league but nonetheless David Silva may finally start to get the credit he very much deserves and get the world to notice what City fans have been trying to say for years.
