City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been hit with a double charge form the FA
The Togolese striker has been charged with violent conduct over the van Persie incident and now has until 1800 on Wednesday to respond to the charge. If found guilty he will face a three match suspension and miss the Manchester derby on Sunday.
Ade also faces a charge of improper conduct following his goal celebrations if front of the Arsenal supporters, which caused the visitors to hurl objects and abuse at the former Arsenal striker. Despite the referee taking action at the time and booking the striker, it seems the FA are adamant a booking is not sufficient, even though van Persie reacted in a similar way when he scored by taunting the City fans but has escaped any sort of punishment.
In the meantime, the FA have asked both clubs to help Greater Manchester Police identify the supporters who threw objects onto the pitch with a view to banning those responsible once caught.
