Don't get me wrong, the lad did well, but this is meant to be the start of a new era - we don't want to be relying on a rookie keeper.
First-choice keeper Andreas Isaksson suffered a hairline fracture of a thumb last week and is expected to be out for a month, and although Joe Hart is expected to be fit by next week's opener against West Ham, he's only played one Premiership game.
I said as soon as we released Nicky Weaver it was a crazy decision, and this just proves it. We've had a £50m transfer kitty to spend and we haven't even bothered to get anyone in to replace him. What was Sven thinking?
"Unfortunately we had two goalkeepers get injured within two days," he told the City website. "Joe Hart should be back training on Tuesday or Wednesday, a maximum of a week. Isaksson is worse though, the medical staff say he will be away for four weeks.
"It's not the best way to start the Premier League, starting with two very young goalkeepers. We will look at it on Monday, unfortunately it's more or less a must that we bring another keeper in."
Well, at least the penny's dropped now, Sven. And yes, you have less than a week to find a proven keeper who happens to be available just a week before the start of the new season.
Good luck, Sven - I think you'll need it!
