Let's be honest, just about every team on the planet would find room for the Brazilian superstar. But that does not necessarily mean he is the right man for City.
Georgi Kinkladze was also a great player but the rest of the team weren't on the same wavelength so most of what Georgi created, we couldn't capitalise on.
The current City side is much better than the dross that Kinky had to play alongside, although Ronaldinho - at his best - is also a lot better than Georgi so I think the difference in class between him and the rest of the team would be similar.
It is also worth remembering what happened with the last former World Player of the Year we signed - George Weah in 2000.
Joe Royle pulled off a coup by luring the Liberian striker to City, although the former AC Milan star lasted just 3 months before packing his bags for Marseille having scored 4 goals in 9 appearances for the Blues - with 3 of those goals coming against Gillingham in the League Cup!
At 33, Weah was a fair bit older than the 28-year-old Ronaldinho, though. Whereas Weah's best days were certainly behind him, Ronaldinho can quite easily rediscover the magic that has terrorised Europe over the last 5 years.
Ronny has looked past his best this season, although he has struggled with injuries and is currently out with a thigh problem.
But perhaps he has just gone stale at Barca. He has made it clear he is ready to move on this summer, despite having a contract until 2010, and a fresh start could be all it needs to get him back to his best.
We'll find out over the coming months if Thakin really does have the financial clout to lure Ronaldinho to City and I'd be delighted it he could pull it off.
Only a couple of years ago Ronaldinho was far-and-away the best player in the world and he still remains in the top 5.
I'm sure that even a past-it, half-fit Ronaldinho would still be of huge benefit to us on the pitch, yet the biggest impact could be felt off the pitch.
Short of signing Kaka, Henry or Ronaldo (as in Cristiano!), there would be no bigger coups in the game so just imagine what it would do for the club's profile.
And we thought the start of this season would be as good as it gets!
