On several occasions this season, it has been plain to see that thousands of seats at the City of Manchester Stadium have been vacant. Take the FA Cup games against Leicester and Spurs for example, or the UEFA Cup ties that were screend on BBC3.
But City fans have flocked to the City of Manchester Stadium for league fixtures with every game a sell-out. Figures may say that the ground's not full but many City fans have called for tickets before the game and have been left disappointed (myself included).
I for one was disappointed with the turn out for the Cup games, especially for in the UEFA Cup as after all, it was our first taste of European football for almost 30 years.
Now for whatever reason, some season ticket holders chose not to go, be it to save some pennies or because some were aired on TV. For many City regulars it's hard enough finding the cash for the season ticket to begin with, let alone additional fixtures.
The fact of the matter is that City fans have filled the stadium week-in, week-out for league matches; they are always there through thick and thin. City fans do not turn up just for the big games and a day trip, but are in it for the long haul.
The news about season ticket sales for next season proves the point. Depsite our Premiership status still not being secured, 25,000 have already committed their hard-earned to the cause - and the figure will grow. But already we are the club who's sold the third highest amount.
So to all messageboard foreignors, that's why we consider ourselves a big club - it's not just measured on silverware, you know. We know the truth, but continue to argue that worn-out, false point if you wish.
